Day-out with friends
Lin Lin and Bruno are our friends here in Al Ain. France is their daughter who plays very often with Gemma as they are the same age range. Mikael and I have enjoyed going to the mountain with Gemma and Oskar. We spent last Friday night over in the hotel where Bruno works as a GM. The next day, they took us to a nearby oasis.
We never really discover Al Ain other than the zoo and the two malls in town for all this time. We were really impressed when we visited one of the oases in Al Ain. There was a beautiful "castle" or old-style building next to the oasis. It was hard to say how old the building was, and the walls and structures were made entirely out of date trees. We tried to knock on the locked door but no one responded. Not until when Gemma and France were posing for photos, someone opened the door (I guess from all the noises they were making.)
We went in and had a look. The kids were most excited since they were told that an Arabian princess used to live here. They went into the "castle" and shouting for the princess to come out and play.
There was also some shabby building with a board sign - heritage village. The place really looked a bit ruined with no sign of maintenance. There was a shisha terrace where you could go to smoke a shisha pipe and order some food. We set down and had a Pepsi each. It's quite a retro feeling.
Finally, hunger brought us all back to reality and the guys and children were asking for MickeyD (the power of American fast food). We all jumped up to our 4x4 and headed to the nearest mall to get some Big Macs.
