Back to the heat
Even though it was three and a half weeks of vacation, like all good times, it ran by very quickly. We truly enjoyed our holiday, especially the time when we spent in Thailand. The Thai weather was pleasant and our hotel was excellent. Gemma got to swim a lot with Mikael and she learnt how to dive as well!
One evening in Bangkok (the night German played Sweden and won...), we went to a 7-11 store and shopped for some football munchies. Just when we were coming out of the shop, there was a "baby" elephant standing in the middle of a busy street. The elephant was with its keeper who was selling bags of chopped sugar canes. We bought a bag to feed the cute baby elephant. Gemma was quite frightened at first but truly excited at the same time. She didn't dare to feed so Mikael was the one who did it(I didn't dare either...) It was such an amusing and exotic experience for us.
In Taipei, we were hit by a mild typhoon. I remember the afternoon we sat in Starbucks and watched the thunderstorm came flooding the streets, our thought was, how cosy! It was a lot of raining days during our holiday. We stayed indoors most of the time because of the rain.
Gemma bonded with my brother's elder daughter, Mimi, and they played very well together. She also got much closer to grandpa. The hardest thing after we returned from Taipei was when Gemma asked me to take her to grandpa's house. Every now and then she would ask me about grandpa. She misses him very much. Me too.
There are some more holiday snapshots in the photo album (see the right panel for link). I also took some artsy photos that I will upload later. Anyhow, hope your summer is cool and full of fun. Drop me a line whenever you can! :-)
p.s. I am halfway over my pregnancy. Candies and beef jerky are my cravings for the time being.
